I am Andy, had a mixed Holistically managed farm in Zimbabwe, ran some local training schemes in conjunction with neighbours to help local tribal subsistance farmers increase their production, while improving the environment and wildlife, managed some commercial farms in South Africa when things went wrong in Zim, moved to the UK, managing outdoor high welfare pig multiplyer, went to North Carolina to manage a commercial pig unit, and improve welfare and production while developing a herd of Tuli cattle for my own interest (with the ususal chickens etc, always like to be self-suficient)
My employers droped the ball on my green card application, so back in the UK, managing organic rare breed pigs and wild boar on Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, get some extra execise chasing escaped Buffalo, and helping with the odd badly behaved cattle or sheep. Generally lead as full a life as possible, keep learning and try to pass on some of what I have learned when I have the opportunity.
Looking foreward to meeting all on the forum and exchanging ideas.

Hi Andy,
Really good to see you here and to find out some news about you !
You sure seem to have moved about and as a result gained some very useful experience which you can pass on to others. I travelled around Europe many years ago and reckon it gave me some of my best experiences, farming and otherwise.
Interesting to hear of your SA holistic experience, I wouldn't have thought it would be practised over there, shows my ignorance eh ? [make a nice Blog article possibly along with any photos in the Gallery ?]
We are not the busiest forum but you'll always be assured of a reply !
Take care,
Jon

The work done by Alan Savory founder of The International Centre For Holistic Management (Google website), is very interesting, he developed his understanding of the holistic concept while working as a biologist for the Rhodesian Game Department, and developed the research over many years of trial and error (he has always been ready to admit his mistakes and work to correct them), as our local MP and repected biologist, we were often involved in new ideas of rotational grazing etc (AKA guneapigs  Cheesy) it ia well worth visiting the website and signing up for the newsletters.

Hi Andy,

You must be a wealth of information with all that experience.  The life of a cowlady seems rather boring compared to yours.
I will look forward to hearing lots more.

Cheers from Australia
